Interior Design Private Apartment – Amsterdam, Netherlands
This is a renovation of an existing apartment on Marnixstraat in the area of Jordaan. The client is a personal friend. For this top floor apartment the brief was to evoke a feeling of a bright modern living space of an open plan with an industrial edge. Storage space is necessary for a minimalist lifestyle, thus it was addressed. A stage is introduced for the living area. This provides a two-fold solution creating a large storage area beneath while reducing the height between the windows and the floor, now allowing for views out. The stage defines three areas, the entrance hall, living and dining spaces. The material pallet consists of white washed walls with exposed wooden roof beams. A hardwood floor carries out throughout the apartment. The stage has a rough finish having a spot welded metal edge with metal stairs leading to the roof terrace.
